So I know it's probably not worth it to most people, but I decided to pay a little extra and get some movie channels on my cable.
I know what's you're thinking. What about the questionable content that usually airs in the wee sma's of the morning? Thank goodness for parental controls is all I'l say. And so far it's been worth it. I've seen several new movies I've been wanting to see and haven't gotten around to, I've DVR'd even more, and I haven't had to spend the $10 per ticket to go to the theater for them either. Not that it's not worth it to go to the theater once in a while because nothing can quite replace that experience and the excitement of lights going down. So far I'm glad I made the choice. It's worth it to me to sit in my living room and push the play button on the DVR and watch You Don't Mess With the Zohan, Road House, and Becoming Jane without having to go to the video store. Yay!
Now I did make the trip to the movies to see Star Trek. Granted I was tired, it was a late show, I'd been up since 4am, and wasn't overly thrilled with having to pay $9.50 for an evening show ticket. But as those of you who have seen Star Trek can testify, it's worth the extra effort to stay awake as well as the extra few dollars to see it in the theater with the bouncy seats at the nice theater. WOW was it worth it. And it's worth the $1.99 per glass to go to Burger King for some fine dinnerware, too.
Budgeting is important and it's also important to be frugal. But sometimes it's worth it to spend a little more, get a little more out of life, get a little more enjoyment and to share that enjoyment with other people. I may be spending a little extra time indoors enjoying movies this week while it rains... It's nice to spend an evening snuggled on the couch and watching a new movie with someone you love.
And then you laugh at the same thing at the same time. Totally worth it!
